HOOERAYS

Our Hooerays baby and toddler group meets every Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9.00am until 10.30am in school terms. We are a friendly group of parents, grandparents and carers who support and care for each other while little ones play together, enjoy a snack and join our legendary sing song (Wednesdays) or story time (Thursdays). We charge a small fee (currently £1 per family) to cover some of the costs.

EXCITE

Every Thursday during school terms we hold an afterschool club from 3.30pm to 5.00pm for children in school from Foundation (4 year olds) to school Year 5 (10 year olds). Each week the children join in with games, craft, story and most importantly have loads of fun and laughter. More often than not the story is based on the Bible with the games and craft having a related link. There is a small charge of £1.50 per child to cover the cost of the craft.

Excite is curently full. There is a waiting list so please get in touch to be added.

KIDZONE

While adults and our young people remain in the service on a Sunday morning, our younger children (aged 0-11) join with our KidZone leaders for thier own activities.
We love having children as part of our worshipping community and see them as an integral part of our church. Resultantly our service starts with us worshipping God all together as a family. During the service, someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their activities.
The activities vary depending on the age of the children but there is always a friendly welcome, a Bible story and craft. Often we sing, perform a drama and play games. All to help the children engage and connect with God in ways that are appropriate and relatable to them.

TODDLER SERVICE

Spread throughout the year, we come together to celebrate festivals such as harvest, Christmas, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Children explore these festivals through stories, crafts and songs. These Thursday morning events are open to all and we are often joined by our local pre-schools.

OCCASIONAL EVENTS

Through out the year we seek to engage with whole families by running different activities (please see upcoming events). These vary from drop-in sessions such as our pumpkin parties and spring life parties. We also hold a summer fun day each year on the Hooe Primary Academy playing fields.

All our leaders are trained in safeguarding and have Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Many come with a wealth of experience in working with children and young people in their professional lives as well as within church.

If you want to know more about our activities for children then please drop in to one of the sessions or fill in our Contact Us form.

Planning your Visit

A warm welcome

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Please do check our church calendar for details of our services, in case there is a change to our usual pattern.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am (9.30am on the first Sunday of each month). We always start our service with a drink and chat. On the first Sunday we start with a breakfast roll too.

Car parking is available at Hooe Primary Academy (directly opposite the church). Cross the road (using the zebra crossing) and walk up the drive to the building at the top. When you arrive, you'll be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

As we enjoy tea, coffee and juice before the service begins, have a chat or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access for anyone who needs it and a disabled toilet on site. We are a Sight Loss Friendly Church.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am (9.30am on the first Sunday) with a warm welcome. We are very informal. In a service we sing some hymns or songs, pray, read from the Bible and reflect on how it affects us. Sometimes we share experiences of where we have seen God at work as well as sharing news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church.

What about my kids?

We love to have children join us. We run activities for them during the service. Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. During the service, someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their activities.

The activities vary depending on the age of the children but there is always a friendly welcome, a Bible story and craft. Often we sing, perform a drama and play games. Please pick your children up after the service finishes.

On the first Sunday of the month, when we start at 9.30am, we all stay together and explore a Bible story.

Getting Connected

Home Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our home groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have two groups that meet on Wednesday evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with one of our home group leaders who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and our work with the community, you can volunteer to help in lots of ways.
